With a bustling springtime, we simply have to share some extra updates from the SIP that just cannot wait until the summer! Read on to learn more about the closing of our survey for the SIPex beta version, our latest job posting, and the release of our Annual Report for 2024/25. Testing of SIPex (Beta) Closes Today

The SIPex beta version survey is closing today. If you haven’t already, you have until midnight tonight to test out the SIPex using the link below and provide feedback on the website usability and functionality.

The SIPex is a user-friendly knowledge hub that will support practitioners through access to knowledge and knowledge holders on innovative silviculture in BC.

The survey link will take you through a series of tailored questions to better understand your experience of the SIPex (taking about 20-30 minutes to complete). The survey accesses the SIPex and helps you navigate the website while tasking you with short discrete missions to test out your user experience.

If you have already filled out the survey - thank you! The feedback we’ve received so far has been thought-provoking, helpful, and inspiring.

TEST THE SIPEX BETA

We are hiring a Knowledge Hub Technician

We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Knowledge Hub Technician. The successful candidate will locate and curate existing information on how to manage forests for multiple values using innovative practices, travelling to different parts of the province to digitize documents that are not currently available in electronic format.

Details include:

🍃 Position would run from June 16 - August 15, 2025

🍃 $28/hr (plus vacation pay)

🍃 Located in Smithers, BC, with travel throughout BC expected

🍃 Applicants must be 30 years of age or younger at the time of starting the position (due to funding requirements)

✨ Explore our brand-new Annual Report

We’re excited to share the 2024–25 Annual Report for the Silviculture Innovation Program, a collection of our program successes and achievements in the past year. We celebrate the tremendous progress we’ve made in implementing our strategic plan across four priority areas.

Some highlights in our Annual Report include:

Providing over $1-million to fund 34 projects across BC that are creating learnings on implementing innovative silviculture for managing multiple values;
Surveying over 500 practitioners on their Communities of Practice;
Launching Out On A Limb, a series that shares the stories of innovation from forest practitioners throughout BC, including releasing our inaugural episode with Lil’wat Forestry Ventures and Lil’wat First Nation with over 1,000 views;
Developing and launching the SIPex beta version, with over 25 tag categories and over 100 resources curated and organized in the repository;
Establishing over 60 study plots for the SIP research project in partnership with the Office of the Wet’suwet’en, evaluating the impacts of innovative silviculture over forty years in the sub-boreal.
